Liberal arts

Refers to academic programs focusing on humanities, social, and physical sciences. Liberal arts programs emphasize critical and creative thinking and communication and are non-technical and non-vocational. Students at liberal arts colleges study broadly across various disciplines and major in one or two academic fields. Math and science disciplines are absolutely included in the list of disciplines available for study at a liberal arts college. The term 'liberal' bears no reflection on political leanings. Students from every political persuasion study the liberal arts.
